Dear Information Security Community, Stop Using This Image

Dear InfoSec Community and Internet at Large,

Stop using this image to portray “hackers” or “attackers” or really anything else. Look, I get it, the community has evolved. In fact, I’ll recognize that we are no longer a community consisting solely of passionate hobbyists, enthusiasts and professionals. We are now an industry and that means our community now includes people with little or no interest in security other than how to profit from it. What this all comes down to is very simple, people putting together presentations and papers do not realize how over used this image has been. So let me point it out to for the world. STOP USING THIS IMAGE!
